| Prof Willies initially graduated form the University of Cape Town with majors in English, Psychology and Religious Studies. He went on to earn post-graduate degrees and diplomas in Education and Applied Linguistics from UCT and the University of Fort Hare. He earned a D Litt from Knightsbridge University in Denmark in bibliotherapy, the use of text and story in clinical contexts for therapeutic purposes. He is registered as a poetry therapist with the National Association for Poetry Therapy in New York. Wally also qualified in homeopathic medicine through the British Institute of Homeopathy, London, of which he is a Fellow. |  |

| He is a registered Quantum-Touch practitioner and instructor. He was associate-professor of English and Director of the School of Languages at the North West University, South Africa and is currently adjunct-professor of Complementary Medicine at Knightsbridge University as a senior academic advisor. |
